Veronica is in the middle of a crisis. Her daughter has died in a tragic accident, her husband is distant and she has realised her friends are really just acquaintances, none of whom she can turn to in her time of need. Alone in her grief, her life ripped apart, she is barely leaving the house and in denial about her daughters death when she has a chance meeting with Scarlet. Scarlet quickly becomes her person to talk to, someone who is her complete opposite and encourages her to have fun and let loose (not always in a good way!)
When strange things start to happen, Veronica questions everything, even her own sanity.
This book starts out quite slowly and I struggled a bit with the first few chapters (only because I’m a fan of the action!) but I realise why the author has done this, it really allows you to relate to Veronica’s struggle and the build up of her pain. A few chapters in though, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down until the end. For fans of psychological thrillers, you’ll probably see a few of the twists coming but the ending will leave you surprised!
Overall, a really great psychological thriller that will keep you turning the page until the end, I will definitely look out for more from Dawn!
