Often TV can go through severe drama droughts – when finding something worthwhile to watch is a serious struggle. But I am glad to say this month has been bursting with some fantastic new shows, so let us fill you in on some of our latest faves!

Big Little Lies

I am obsessed with this series, I binge watched as many episodes as I could squeeze into one night and absolutely lovvved it! I don’t even know where to start with this programme, the plot is addictive and intriguing, and still after watching 5 out of 7 episodes, I honestly don’t know what is going to happen! The main stars are three of Hollywood’s finest, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley. The story takes place both in the present tense and in the future, what we do know is that a murder has taken place but who, what, why, where and when are yet to be discovered. The three leading ladies live very different lives, Madeline McKenzie (Witherspoon) is a part time working mother, she has two children and is happily married to husband Ed, or so it seems. Living in the same town as her ex husband, his new wife and his new daughter see a whole heap of drama unfold. Then there’s former lawyer Celeste Wright (Kidman), everything appears hunky dory on the surface but as the story progresses it becomes clear that Celeste is in a domestic violence relationship and is desperate to get back to work. Finally there’s the town newbie Jane Chapman (Woodley), I won’t reveal too much about Jane’s character but there is a certain mystery and darkness that surrounds the single mum.

I would highly recommend this programme for some drama and laughs with a dark twist, plus it has recently been announced there will be a second series, yipeeee!

Masterchef

My favourite cooking show is back and John Torode and Gregg Wallace have returned on fine form. The show that seeks to turn amateur cooks into professionals in a matter of weeks has not disappointed. This week we are going into knockout week, which I am super excited about! At the moment I have a couple favourites, I have to say 22 year old food blogger Lorna has excelled, then there’s experimental cook DJ Lindsay! I would highly recommend for some serious food inspo!
