15th Affair: Book Club Update

White cover magazine and blank screen phone, flat lay tabletop

It’s already the 10th of March and we’re officially on our 3rd Book Club read of 2017! We were so excited to have 15th Affair by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro included in the Sarah Hurley Book Club, so let us tell you our thoughts so far…

Sarah

WOW! at the halfway point, I am LOVING this book! A perfect crime drama with plot twists aplenty, full of strong characters and a gripping storyline, this had me hooked from chapter two. Lindsay, the main character is an easily relatable woman, hard working, juggling family, work and friends, she could easily be you or someone you know. She’s drawn into a multiple murder which spills over into her personal life, leaving you on the edge of your seat as she fights to solve the mystery and get to the bottom of where her husband is and how he fits into the whole puzzle. Every character is written so well that even though I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series and there are a lot of people to get straight in the novel (multiple characters, victims and suspects) it’s really easy to keep them all clear in your mind.

I’m struggling to put this one down and sneaking a few pages whenever I can, I can’t wait to finish it! This was recommended to us by Chloe’s sister and we’ve since discovered it’s part of a series (although you don’t have to read them in order as i’ve found out, I’ve read this 15th one first and it’s easy to follow the story) I will definitely be going back to the beginning of this and reading from the start. I have that ‘box set’ high where you start watching something good and realising there are loads of episodes you haven’t seen. In this case there are 15 books for me to read in this series and I can’t wait!

I have to say this could be my favourite book of the book club so far. I’ve never really been one to choose mystery crime books, but after reading this one I think I’ll definitely be looking for them more often. As Sarah mentioned the story is full of plot twists, and gripping storylines, I always tell myself I’ll only read until the end of the next chapter and end up reading another two. I’ve really warmed to the protagonist Lindsay, she is a normal woman living her life when work takes over her personal life and sends it ultimately into turmoil. She’s a woman who’s husband is missing and has a multiple murder case to solve as well as managing her family. I’m so intrigued and excited to see what happens next and how this one ends. I think it may even be time to invest in the rest of the book series…

Thank you for reading today! Let us know if you’ve read 15th Affair or if you’re reading along with us, we would love to know your thoughts. Get in touch via Twitter, Facebook or just drop us a comment below.
