Happy International Women’s Day 2017!
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the successes of women from all over the world and in all areas of society. As a female leader, I have a responsibility to lend my voice to those who may feel they don’t have one, or who are still finding theirs. Speaking up creates a support network of female leaders, challenging inequality and gender bias.
Here at the company I founded, Sarah Hurley Ltd, we encourage female talent, building a strong community of inclusiveness and support, encouraging everyone to work towards their goals while feeling valued for their ability and contribution. We are building a career path for our future leaders who will join me on the journey to build our company, and our voice, globally.
Your gender should never be a barrier to creating your own vision of success, it is our differences that make us. As a company director, public speaker, TV personality and board member of a trade association, I personally mentor and support women in achieving their ambitions and celebrating their achievements.
Here at Sarah Hurley, we pledge to:
- Create New Opportunities for Women
- Challenge Gender Bias & Inequality
- Call out when women are excluded
- Challenge Stereotypes
- Recognise and celebrate female success – when you celebrate your success, it gives other women the courage to speak out about their own!
- Encourage more girls to think about their own future success
Take some time today to celebrate your success and that of other strong women around you. All too often, women are pitted against each other as if we have to fight each other or step over each other to get what we want, that’s simply not the case. Stay true to your vision of success, support other strong women around you and build your female networks. The empowerment of women also doesn’t mean men are anything less. Strong men support strong women to create a better world for us all. The empowerment of women and the advancement of gender parity makes us all more successful – together we are stronger.
Thank you for dropping by this International Women’s Day!
